Well, I think we all know that cupcakes have been all the rage for the past few years. And I know everyone probably thinks they've had their day and it's time to make room for the new cute dessert, but I say cupcakes are here to stay! They're so yummy and fun, what's not to like?
Now, Quilt Sandwich has some nifty cupcake fabric and we decided to do something awesome with it! Our parents are very involved in their local Rotary club and every November we all go to the famed Rotary Auction. This year, Quilt Sandwich decided to make a fun donation: a cupcake basket!
That is a lot of pink there. What's in there, you may ask? Well, first, the non-fabric items. We have a great looking book called Cupcakes From The Primrose Bakery, which has a seal of approval from none other than Jude Law so it has to be good, right? We also have some pink flower-shaped cupcake liners, 3 kinds of sprinkles (pink sparkles, white non-pareils and chocolate jimmies!), and a box of icing colors. For the fabric goods, we made an apron and some potholders, and holy cow everyone - they are cute!!
For this apron we used Robert Kaufman's Confections Cupcakes fabric by Amy Schimler and Michael Miller's Gypsy Caravan pink gingham. They look great together!
Now here are the potholders.
Oh. My. GOODNESS! How cute are they?! I have to admit, I totally patted myself on the back when I saw how they turned out. Of course I used the gingham again for the first cupcake base and the top is also from the Gypsy Caravan line - it's this cute tonal kaleidoscope also from the Gypsy Bandanna collection. It makes a perfect cupcake top, don't you think? For the cupcake on the right, we are out of those fabrics, so just forget that you saw them.
So there you go! Fun things to do with cupcake fabric!
Have a great week everyone, and be back soon with more awesome fabric!
Becca
